Forever is included in a World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time; no separate purchase is needed. The Skyborne race and their starting zone require one of the optional upgrade editions.
Three digital editions are sold on the Battle.net Shop. Each higher edition contains everything of the lower one. A physical Collector's Edition contains the code for the Warcraft Forever Collection.

Codes are emailed from 20 October 2026. An invited friend can play Forever from 4 to 11 November 2026 without a subscription or Game Time. The codes do not include beta access and gift purchases do not grant them.
No transfer or copy into Forever has been announced. Everyone starts new at level 1. Blizzard has not said anything that points to transfers from Classic Era, Season of Discovery, Anniversary or modern WoW.
Within Forever, collections and Legacy Points are account-wide across Normal, PvP and Roleplaying. Hardcore progress also counts elsewhere, but not the other way round. Some edition rewards are housing decor items for modern WoW. Whether other collections from modern WoW or Classic appear in Forever has not been stated.

Spring 2027: two raids (10 and 20), two dungeons, new quests and a playable area, a legendary questline, a PvP season refresh. Summer 2027: a revamped iconic raid, a new raid, more world content, two dungeons, a PvP season refresh, profession and Legacy updates. Blizzard marks content and timing as subject to change.
You do not need alts for Legacy. One character can earn up to 29 points, and each character can spend 16 at launch.
Legacy unlocks with the first point. Besides level 25, skill 150 in a crafting profession or exploring the whole world map also counts.
Decide your faction before creating a character on the PvP ruleset. After your first character there, you cannot create one of the other faction on that ruleset.
Choose the ruleset with your friends in advance. Characters cannot move between rulesets and cannot group across them.
With any upgrade edition you can reserve up to three characters from 27 October to 3 November. Names are first come, first served, and the full two-part name counts, so prepare alternatives for the second name.
Set your preferred online language early (Esc → Options → System → Languages and Social). It decides which players you meet and can only be changed every 24 hours.
Do not roll Need on a bind-on-pickup green or blue dungeon item just for its look. Everyone eligible gets the appearance when it is looted.
In the beta a respec costs 1 silver if you have not reset within the last hour. Test builds now; launch prices will be different.
Beta names are reviewed by hand. Offensive names led to forced renames and, in severe cases, loss of beta access.
Do not plan hunter or wand kiting around the current near-instant Auto ShotAuto ShotNo tooltip in this build.. It is a bug and the 0.5-second cast will be restored.
Check your graphics card before launch. Cards older than AMD GCN 1, NVIDIA Maxwell or Intel Skylake do not run Forever.
